New Townhouses in Bo'ness
Our clients contacted us to design a residential development to a site located central to Bo'ness Town Centre.
Located to the south bank of the Firth of Forth in the Central Lowlands of Scotland, a former coal mining town and seaport.
The elevated location of the vacant development site, assisted with the decision to opt for a three storey design to provide clear, uninterrupted views across the Forth Estuary, from the upper floor levels.
The townhouse design allows for adequate family living accommodation with integral garage and private driveway parking, to alleviate the requirement of on street parking, providing a private, self contained development.
The choice of designing a substantial footprint to allow a family to grow into, without the necessity to have to move and relocate through lack of floor space, the form following its function.
We liaised with the Local Authority Planning Department at inception, during the sketch design process, to receive their advice and feedback. Our concerns as how best to maximise the site developable area, with an attractive, complimentary design to the mixture of dwelling styles to the adjacent boundaries, to satisfy the Planning recommendations prior to our formal submission.
We were very keen to retain the existing natural elements and wildlife of the site; surrounded by mature specimen trees, high retaining sand stone walls with cast iron railing and the native planting.
The new external finishes will replicated the surrounding structures; the white timber sash and case window units, natural stone with smooth render facades, exposed truss ends to eaves, grey slate roof finishes and cobbled access road and paved areas.
We await the programme of build works progressing on site.
